What is Joinery?

Joinery is the method used to join timber to itself. It forms the basis of most of the common connections used in traditional furniture making.

What Will We Cover?

  • Sharpening and tool maintenance
  • Correct and safe use of saws and chisels
  • Three joints: Halving, Bridle, Mortice & Tenon
  • Posture: How body and hand position can be used to develop strength, control, and finesse.
  • Accurate measuring and marking.

The weekday course concludes with #TrivetChallenge, where you will spend the day making an intricate frame, using your new-found skills. This is quite a difficult little test, but there is a nice prize at the end for anyone who makes a good attempt at it.
