Trinket boxes and the like are interesting to make and make great gifts if you're in the mood to be generous.

The skills gained on this course will set you up for tackling larger projects like a cabinet as they share many of the techniques and joints involved.

You'll be taught how to: measure, mark and cut dovetails; run grooves for the base and shape the lid; plane, scrape and sand the surfaces; assemble the box and glue it so that it remains the correct shape; apply a finish to protect the surface and enhance the grain.

A happy man hold a box that he has made.

Once you've completed this course you'll be ready to tackle a box of your own or go on to one of our more advanced classes.
